The interregional public organisation Association of European Studies (AEVIS), established in 1992, is a public association of scholars, aimed at promoting research on the issues of Europe.The Association executes its activities by creating regional branches in those federal subjects of Russian Federation where the members of the Association operate.

Founded in 1993, Association of European Studies Tomsk regional branch is the oldest one in Siberia, and until the creation of the Irkutsk branch 2024 it has been the easternmost rampart of the Association. The branch is based in Tomsk State University. By 2025, the Association of European Studies is represented by 31 branches all across Russian Federation.

The mission of the Association is the following:

• Promoting European studies in Russian Federation, namely, the research of countries and peoples in Europe via the lense of economy, history, social development, science of culture, political science and international relations;
• Assisting in preparation and publishing of scientific works in the field of European studies;
• Supporting the teaching practices in Russian higher education institutions in the field of European studies;
• Facilitating cross-border links and cooperation between Russian and foreign researchers.

In realisation of its mission, the association:

• Hosts Russian and international conferences, workshops and seminars on European studies;
• Arranges exchange of scientific data on European studies among Russian researchers, as well as between Russian and foreign researchers;
• Develops lecture courses and seminars on European studies in Russian higher education institutions, as well as advanced courses to increase qualifications of specialists, whose occupation requires professional training in European studies;
• Facilitates faculty exchange;
• Engages in publishing activity for promoting European studies in accordance with the Law on the Press and other Mass Media;
• Organises lectures and meetings with the representatives of social, scientific, business, media and other circles of Russia and other countries, focused on the issues of the European studes.
